Southern Hills Kids

Southern Hills is a great place for kids. In addition to our youth ministry (for those in 6th – 12th grades) we also have a really dynamic ministry to preschool and elementary ages. We call it “Southern Hills Kids.”

What's the purpose of Southern Hills Kids?


The mission of Southern Hills Kids is to teach children that God is love,
the Bible is true and helpful, and the church is a happy place.

What are the goals of this ministry?


1. To value children as individuals, just as God loves us all uniquely
2. To teach age-appropriate biblical lessons with love, grace, and imagination
3. To create an atmosphere of “Belonging” where friendships naturally develop
4. To promote personal relationships with Jesus that will last for a lifetime

What would my children do at Southern Hills?
  • Age-appropriate Bible Classes: Sundays at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.

  • Nursery: for our youngest children, a clean, friendly nursery is provided, both Sundays and Wednesdays.

  • Incredibles (4th-5th grades): Incredibles is a ministry to those in 4th and 5th grades. This is a key time in faith development and also in transitioning from our children’s ministry to our youth ministry. Special activities for this age group to socialize and grow spiritually are planned regularly.

  • Kid’s Night Out: KNO is a ministry that serves families with young children in our community. Spread out through the school-year, we dedicate 6 Friday nights, where parents can drop off their kids here, in a safe, supervised environment and have a night to themselves.   • Super Summer: Like KNO, the Super Summer Program is designed to bless families in our community with young children. The program consists of 2 scheduled daytime activities each week of the summer.
How can my children get plugged in?


We would love for your children to be involved. The best place to jump in would probably be one of our Bible classes, either at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays or 7:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. This would allow your children to meet their peers in a smaller group setting.

Another option would be to call the church office (318.686.2190) or send an email (natalie@sohills.org) and ask to be added to our mailing list. We send out 3 or 4 children’s mailings per year with information about Kid’s Night Out and our Super Summer Program.
